Looking through the archive of what I have posted I cannot help but wonder how is that possible that I only have 2 muffin recipies? Considering it is one of the things I bake very often and have fed a considarate amount of them to my colleagues, it is a huge negligence on my part. The good news though is that Spring is on its way and with it the picknick season. So consider this post a hint of what you can pack in your picknick basket. That is if picknicks and such are still allowed.Continue reading “Apple and cranberry muffins”
I told you once that I don’t really like cauliflower. Well, maybe not as such. Whenever someone prepared it and it was on my plate I ate it but was never really thrilled about it. My vegetable of choice was always the broccoli. When it wasn’t available in the store, but the cauliflower was I simply ignored the fact and just left or bought carrots instead. At some point I just decided to experiment with it a little bit, adding different spices and preparing it in various different ways. You know, as much as I’d like it to be true, baking is not my forte. I mean, there are times when everything goes perfect and you bake the cake you wanted all along. Other times the reality kicks in, proving that, well, a little bit more practice is needed. And nothing wrong with that. Normally when I ruin a cake I distract myself with something else to bake. You know, the last few weeks have been packed with new challenges and I had to cut down on my cooking letting Philipp be the chef cook for that time. So over the weekend when it felt just long enough for me to stay out of the kitchen, I took over. And it felt so good to be back. I thought after all that time I should make something a little bit more fancy. You know, for all that trouble and effort of the last days. Continue reading “Keema matar and homemade flatbread”
It’s Sunday, the sky is blue and normally we would be up and going towards the mountains for a hike or just a cruise through the little villages and country roads. But not today. My brother paid us a very welcome but surprise visit so during his short stay we tried to show him what Bavaria has to offer. And as we went for a hike yesterday, we thought we deserve a day’s rest. Continue reading “Sunday dinner: pork tenderloin with herb crust”
We were invited for dinner to our friends the other day, and somehow there is this unspoken rule that whoever is invited has to bring the dessert. Well, not sure this is entirely true, as wine is also a good idea. Something home baked has that personal touch though.
I was planning on bringing some cupcakes or at least muffins, and went through the posts on my blog. And then one thing struck me. Continue reading “Eggnog cupcakes with pudding cream”
Asparagus season is upon us, and to be honest it’s one of those things which you can hardly miss here in Germany. In the cities, most of the restaurants will proudly anounce the beginning of the season on the blackboards with a variety of new recipes. Even the little veggetable and fruit stands spread across Munich have now asparagus on offer. Continue reading “Ravioli with asparagus and ricotta filling”
Something very simple today, and since today is Thursday I went for meatballs. I’m sure everyone knows meatballs, in any form, stuffed, baked and with variety of sides. This is one of those things my parents would make for dinner during the week, mostly on Thursdays, due to its simplicity and the fact that it’s relative fast in preparing. Accompanied by a variety of sides, … Continue reading If it’s Thursday, it’s meatballs days!
Do you also have days when everything what can go wrong, just goes wrong? For me this could be a perfect summary of last week. It has been so frustrating. Not even cooking helped, since even that turned out far from how it’s supposed to look like. But thank heaven for the weekend, as my bad luck started slowly fading away. Continue reading “Chocolate cheesecake”
The Spring, after a rough beginning, is finally here. Everything’s blooming, and although some mornings it’s still a little bit frosty, the temperature during the day stays in enjoyable mid 20ºC.
It’s so beautiful, that even I, a winter enthusiast, am looking forward to going outside. We even reactivated our little ritual of stopping for an ice cream on our way home. The little ice cream parlour near our place, is also getting busier every day. Continue reading “Homemade chocolate ice cream”
