Breakfast brioche with chocolate

Today I thought I’ll share a breakfast recipe with you. As another weekend closes in on us maybe you’ll decide to give this recipe a go. I don’t know about you, but I am one of those people who enjoys a late lazy breakfast on the weekends, some of which lasts until early afternoon.

After Monday-till-Friday stress at work I decided it will be my way of rewarding myself and refuse to be bothered with that weekday rush. That’s what the weekends are for, right? And I do enjoy those days when I can lazily walk around the kitchen in my pajama and just stop and enjoy the little things. This recipe is maybe not the fastest to prepare, but on the weekend? Who cares. It’s something you should try one of those mornings when you crave something sweet in the morning, but don’t really want the pancakes or waffles. I have done it few times and was more than happy with the result. It tastes very chocolatey with that little tang of sour from the berries. If you think it takes too much time to prepare in the morning, this is also great with afternoon tea or coffee.

Serves 2-4

Preparation time: 10min Baking time: 15min

1 brioche, can be few days old

200 ml whipping cream

100 ml milk

1 whole chocolate, /I used dark but you can also use milk chocolate

Few drops of vanilla extract

4 eggs

A little bit of soft butter

Fresh berries

Preheat the oven to 170◦C (air circulation). Pour the whipping cream and the milk to a pot and heat it up. Leave on medium heat, roughly crumble the chocolate and put to the liquid. Once it melted add the vanilla and move from the heat. Cool until it’s only lukewarm. Add the eggs, one at a time, and mix until slightly frothy.

If not already cut, then cut the brioche in slices and smear them with butter, it doesn’t have to be a lot. Prepare a heat resistant dish and lay the slices in it so that they overlap. Pour the chocolate cream on the brioche, garnish with berries and place in the oven. Bake for 15minutes. If the cream is too liquid, turn the oven off and leave the dish for few more minutes. Serve hot.
