It is finally time that I post something from the german cuisine again. I showed you few other recipes here, somehow most of them having onions in their ingredients list. Well, this one can also be modified with onions, lots of them, as well though there is no limit as to which toppings you can use. I am talking about the german pizza, which is called the flammkuchen.

German meatballs in beer sauce, Bierklopse

We have been cooking so many different dishes lately that at some point we both decided that it would be nice to have something simple, housewife art, for a change.  I mean all the dishes were simple and easy, but we wanted something we knew from our childhoods. Our discussion, like so many times before, consisted mostly of all the typical dishes we just didn’t have in a very long time.

Aloo Gobi- indian potatoe and cauliflower curry

Today’s dinner is presented by a cauliflower. I have already shared few recipes with this beautiful bulb in focus. Admittingly everytime I buy one I mostly go for the cauliflower puree, or cut the bulb in smaller florets to use as a side. But this veggie can so much more! One of the very good examples comes from the indian cuisine.

Turkey roast for Sunday dinner

In my family we always celebrate Sundays. Mostly with tasty and festive food. I remember my parents were always up very early to start preparing everything for dinner. It was usually a three-course menu so it was a bit time consuming (well, so much for lazy days, huh?) But everything was always prepared fresh and from the scratch. And it was always so good. Everyone would help and we would gather at the table early afternoon to enjoy the meal, followed by a coffee and cake.

Pikeperch with potato crust on a bed of cauliflower purée

I told you once that I don’t really like cauliflower. Well, maybe not as such. Whenever someone prepared it and it was on my plate I ate it but was never really thrilled about it. My vegetable of choice was always the broccoli. When it wasn’t available in the store, but the cauliflower was I simply ignored the fact and just left or bought carrots instead. At some point I just decided to experiment with it a little bit, adding different spices and preparing it in various different ways. Ravioli with asparagus and ricotta filling

Asparagus season is upon us, and to be honest it’s one of those things which you can hardly miss here in Germany. In the cities, most of the restaurants will proudly anounce the beginning of the season on the blackboards with a variety of new recipes. Something very simple today, and since today is Thursday I went for meatballs. I’m sure everyone knows meatballs, in any form, stuffed, baked and with variety of sides. Simple potato gratin with salmon

I don’t know if it’s me, or the Winter, but the last few weeks I have been feeling rather.. well, sleepy and more or less in energy saving mode. My motivation, or better said the lack of it, even got as far as the kitchen.
